Demonstration Flights  Demonstration Flights Minimize

Cost
Demonstration flights are available to the general public.  We offer two options, depending on the release altitude that you choose.

3000 foot tow:  $100
Mile High tow:  $150

About the flight
You will ride front seat in a two place glider (Schweitzer 2-33) piloted by an FAA licensed commercial glider pilot.  Your pilot will brief you before the flight but here is what you are likely to expect.  A tow rope is attached from the tail of the tow plane to the nose of the glider.  The tow plane will tow the glider up your release altitude where you will pull the release to free the tow rope and begin free, unpowered flight.  Your pilot will search for “thermals” (columns of rising air) in which to fly.  If the thermal is strong enough, the glider will gain altitude.  This is the same technique used by hawks and other birds to stay aloft without flapping their wings.

Expected flight time
Soaring conditions vary widely from day to day and your flight time will vary depending on these weather conditions.  Your pilot may be able to approximate the expected duration of a flight, given the current conditions, so feel free to ask. As a general rule of thumb, a 3000' tow flight will typically last 20 to 30 minutes.

Weight Restriction
We are sorry, but our gliders have a passenger weight limit restriction of 210 lbs.

Weather Disclaimer
Please be aware that all scheduled demonstration flights are subject to cancellation due to poor weather conditions.  We will make every effort to notify you of cancellations and work with you to reschedule your flight.
